Plan and shooting location
- 01We provide pre-wedding photography in Japan, kimono pre-wedding photography, Shinto wedding ceremony photography, couple, proposal and family portraits, and Kyoto studio photography. Our service areas include Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kamakura, Yokohama, Kyoto, Nara, Hokkaido and other cities across Japan. Special destinations are confirmed according to transport, season, permits and team availability.
- 02Choose a full-day pre-wedding package if you would like multiple looks and locations. The One-Hour Photoshoot is ideal for travel memories, anniversaries, proposals or family portraits. Kyoto Studio is suitable for couples who prefer controlled indoor light, a Japanese-style room or a weather-independent experience. For couples who wish to experience an authentic Japanese wedding ritual, we recommend the Shinto Wedding Ceremony package.

- 04Full-day packages are planned around up to 8 hours of photography. The overall day may run longer once hair and makeup, dressing, transportation and on-site preparation are included. Packages generally include professional bridal hair and makeup, styling coordination for both partners, two looks based on the selected package, a bouquet and accessories, private transportation on the photography day, and outdoor photography within the chosen region. Exact inclusions are confirmed according to the destination and outfit combination.
- 05Full-day packages typically cover 3–4 photography locations. The number and order depend on travel distance, outfit changes, seasonal light, weather, crowds and sunset time. We prioritize a smooth, realistic route instead of simply adding more locations. The final itinerary is confirmed with the couple before the photography day.
- 06Yes. Tell us your preferred scenery, season and atmosphere, and we will assess each location based on photography permission, opening hours, travel time, crowds, weather and daylight. Shrines, temples, gardens and private facilities may require advance applications and additional fees, and remain subject to approval by the venue.
- 07You can choose the Tokyo + Mount Fuji arrangement: shoot one location in Tokyo first, and then go to the Mount Fuji area to shoot two locations. The actual route will be adjusted based on traffic, weather, season and sunset time.
Clothing, kimono and styling
- 01You can mainly choose the following combinations:Two wedding-dress looks: two wedding dresses for the bride and a formal suit for the groomWedding dress + kimono: a wedding dress and kimono for the bride, with a suit and kimono for the groomWedding dress + traditional wedding kimono: a wedding dress, shiromuku and iro-uchikake for the bride, with a suit and montsuki haori hakama for the groomPlease confirm the available styles and sizes according to the actual collection at the time of reservation.
- 02Yes. When you select the “wedding dress + traditional wedding kimono” combination, the bride wears both shiromuku and iro-uchikake, while the groom wears montsuki haori hakama. The bride does not need to choose only one of the two kimono. The team arranges the wearing order and photography schedule.
- 03You don’t necessarily need to prepare it yourself. Heart Art can provide the groom's suit, shirt, leather shoes and tie, but before making an appointment, you need to check whether the sizes published on the official website fit. If the current size does not fit, or if you want the ideal fit, it is still recommended to prepare your own well-fitting suit, shirt, leather shoes and socks. When choosing kimono style, the groom will wear montsuki haori hakama according to the plan.
- 04It is recommended to prepare NuBra or strapless bra, high heels suitable for wedding dress, and flat shoes for easy movement. If the height difference between the couple is more than about 15 centimeters, consider preparing high heels. Other details will be provided with individual reminders before shooting.
- 05Clothing rental and hair and makeup are not included. The One-Hour Photoshoot is designed for relaxed couple, proposal, family, anniversary or travel portraits in your own clothing. It includes approximately 15 minutes of pre-shoot consultation, one hour of professional photography, posing and interaction guidance, 15 professionally retouched images, and the remaining original images.
- 06Kyoto Studio couples plan currently includes three main experiences:Studio Dress Experience：¥120,000Kimono & Dress Experience：¥150,000Signature Studio Experience：¥180,000Depending on the selected experience, outfits may include wedding dresses, suits, furisode, shiromuku, iro-uchikake and montsuki haori hakama, with photography in the studio and Japanese-style room. The number of looks, photography time and retouched images varies by plan; please refer to the current package page for exact inclusions.
Shinto Wedding Ceremony
- 01A kimono photoshoot focuses on styling and portraits. A Shinto Wedding Ceremony includes the formal Japanese wedding ritual and shrine procedures. Heart Art photographs the preparation, ceremony details, shrine atmosphere and formal portraits, while also assisting with shrine communication and schedule coordination.
- 02The Shinto wedding ceremony plan includes the bride shiromuku and iro-uchikake, the groom montsuki haori hakama, professional makeup and hair and professional kimono dressing. The actual styling arrangement will be confirmed based on the half-day/full-day plan, shrine time and shooting process.
- 03Not included. Shrine ceremony fees are charged separately by each shrine, and the amount, available reservation dates, ceremony regulations and photography restrictions may be different. Please tell us first the area or shrine where you want to hold the ceremony, and we will help confirm the feasibility; please do not assume that shooting will be possible before the shrine and shooting regulations are confirmed.
- 04Yes. A full-day Shinto Wedding Ceremony plan can include wedding-dress photography and a hairstyle change in addition to the ceremony and shrine portraits. Feasibility depends on the shrine schedule, transportation and the overall flow of the day.
Reservation, payment and changes
- 01You can contact us first to understand the plan content and discuss the shooting city, clothing preferences and desired style. After confirming the content, select the desired plan and date from the official website; the schedule will be officially reserved after paying a 30% deposit, and the remaining balance will be paid on the day of shooting.
- 02Generally, the 30% deposit is non-refundable. Because the team, clothing, makeup and hair, transportation and shooting schedule will be reserved and arranged after the reservation is made.
- 03Date changes must be made at least 3 days before the shooting date and a ¥15,000 rescheduling fee will be charged. The new date is subject to the availability of photographers, makeup, hair, costumes and other teams, so there is no guarantee that the change to the specified date will be possible.
- 04Generally, if there is light rain or weather changes, the team will adjust the route and shooting method according to the on-site conditions. If severe weather or natural disasters make shooting unsafe, we will provide a free rescheduling; if both parties are unable to arrange a new shooting date, the deposit will be refunded. Actual judgment shall be based on safety, traffic conditions and official information.
- 05Please speak with us first so we can review the stage of pregnancy, physical condition, itinerary intensity, weather and medical advice. Where possible, we will simplify the route and allow more rest time. Because kimono dressing places pressure around the waist and abdomen, we generally recommend avoiding kimono during pregnancy and choosing a wedding dress or comfortable personal clothing instead. Participation should be decided carefully by the couple based on the mother’s condition and her doctor’s advice.
Photos, videos and submissions
- 01Full-day plans typically provide over 300 original photos, with 30 selected by the couple for professional polishing. Different plans (such as Shinto wedding ceremony or photo studio) may provide 30 or 40 refined photos. Please refer to the official content of the selected plan.
- 02The original photos for the full-day plan are usually delivered within 2 days after the shooting; after the couple completes the photo selection, the refined photos are usually delivered within 7 days. The delivery methods of One-Hour Photoshoot and some special plans are slightly different, and the final description of the reservation plan shall prevail.
- 03Photos will be delivered via Google Drive. The file retention period is 3 months. Please complete the download within the period and back up your own files; after the storage period has expired, we cannot guarantee that the file can still be restored.
- 04Yes. A Behind-the-Scenes Video (BTS) can be added to eligible plans for ¥30,000. The content, length and delivery schedule are confirmed according to the selected package and the flow of the photography day.
Season and shooting preparation
- 01The four seasons in Japan have different characteristics: spring is suitable for cherry blossoms and fresh greenery, summer is suitable for bright colors and rich natural landscapes, autumn is suitable for red leaves and golden tones, and winter is suitable for snowy scenery and a calm and transparent seasonal atmosphere. The flowering period, red leaves and snowfall are all affected by the climate of the year, and there is no guarantee that the ideal scenery will appear on a specific date.
- 02Mount Fuji cannot be guaranteed. Visibility depends on clouds, wind, humidity and the season. If the mountain is not visible, we offer two alternatives:1. If you are unable to take a photo of Mount Fuji that day, you can discuss post-production methods to naturally combine Mount Fuji into the background of a suitable photo.2. During the makeup and hair preparation on the morning of the shooting, we will refer to Mount Fuji Live Camera and the real-time weather; if the visibility is confirmed to be poor, the couple can choose to change to Tokyo, Yokohama or Kamakura for the shooting. Since the photography team, vehicles and full-day schedule have been retained according to the original itinerary, the cost is still based on the Mount Fuji plan.
- 03Yes. After confirming the package, we plan the photography schedule around the outfits, destination, transportation, sunrise and sunset, seasonal scenery and the couple’s preferred locations. You can also use the Location Guide on our website to explore signature scenery, seasonal features and well-known photography spots before discussing the best route with us. Any permits, admission fees, special transportation or accommodation requirements will be explained separately when the itinerary is confirmed.
- 04Yes. You are welcome to share reference images for composition, colour, scenery or interaction. We adapt those ideas to the couple, location and light while preserving Heart Art’s natural, refined and cinematic style; we do not directly copy another photographer’s work.
